What is Sheykh Obeyd?
The designation Sheykh Obeyd is adopted from Lady Anne and Wilfred
Blunt's stud farm in Egypt by that name. This name was chosen as a symbol of
the collective effort of the 7 original breeders in Egypt committed to this
preservation cause, and the community spirit which evolved from their shared
vision. The name does not imply that only the Blunt horses qualify under this
designation.
The Sheykh Obeyd Arabian is one which meets both of
these requirements:
1) Descends in all lines exclusively to those Arabians bred by, aquired by,
or introduced into the genetic stream by one of the 7 original Sheykh Obeyd
Foundation Breeders.
2)Descends in all lines of the pedigree to a combination of
the sixty six horses listed in the By-Laws of The Sheykh Obeyd Foundation International.
